Patty Hildreth

Patty Gay Hildreth, age 79, of Moundville, passed away on November 6, 2023 at home. Graveside services will be held on Thursday, November 9, 2023, 2:00 p.m, at Oak Hill Cemetery in Moundville with Rev. Charles Spence officiating and Magnolia Chapel South directing.

She is preceded in death by her parents, John Carpenter McCrary and Bessie Minton McCrary, sister Carolyn Anderson Grogan, grandson, Brandon Cody Strickland and her ex-husband, Joe Henry Hildreth.

She is survived by her son, Chris Hildreth, daughter; Cheryl Hildreth Robertson (Jim), grandchildren; Julie Terry Montgomery (Josh), Jason Terry (Kari), Ken Strickland, Jr., Kendall Strickland Pierce and Josh Strickland (Taylor), great grandchildren; Brandon Montgomery (Nolie), Caylee Montgomery, Camilla Terry, Cody Terry, Brooklyn Pierce, Cadence Pierce, JJ Strickland and Jason Strickland, nephews; Steve Anderson (Jennifer), Robbie Anderson, Mitchell Anderson (Jessica) and their families.

Patty was born in Pickens County on April 22, 1944. She moved her family to Moundville in 1969 and bought a house in Moundville Estates in 1971 where she lived until her death. Even though she was born in Pickens County, Moundville was her home. She worked at Moundville Mercantile and retired from Zildjian Percussion.

Patty was the best known as Maw Maw Patty to her five grandchildren and her nine great grandchildren. She spent many hours being a kid with them; dancing, playing games, hopscotching, chasing bumblebees, pretending to be animals and anything else they wanted to do. Lots of great memories were made at Maw Maw's house that everyone will cherish forever. She had a lot of love for all of her family and they all loved her and will miss her tremendously.

Pallbearers are Chris Hildreth, Jason Terry, Ken Strickland, Jr., Josh Strickland, Josh Montgomery and Brandon Montgomery.

Honorary pallbearers are Dr. Larry Skelton and staff, friends and family of the Moundville Community, Don Terry, Mayor Tony Lester, Daniel Fowler, Chase Kelly, Cody Rester, Fred McNeil, Red Haywood, Danny Matherson, Lita Roulaine, Shirley Nevins, Nancy Taylor, Chief Toby Banks and the Moundville Police Department, employess of the City of Moundville and Hale County EMS.
