Pat Brown Burns TUSCALOOSA - Pat Brown Burns, age 71, of Tuscaloosa, died April 13, 2016, at DCH Regional Medical Center. Services will be 11 a.m. Saturday, April 16, 2016, at Forest Lake United Methodist Church with Rev. Melody Traylor officiating. Burial will follow at 4:00 p.m. in Half Acre, Alabama with Rev. Brooks Etheridge and Rev. Doug McClure officiating and Magnolia Chapel Funeral Home South directing. Visitation will be two hours prior to service at Forest Lake United Methodist Church. She was preceded in death by her parents, Robert Lawrence and Eloise Barnes Brown; brothers, Frank Brown, Johnny Brown and Bobby Brown; and sister-in-law, June Brown. Survivors include her husband, John M. Burns of Tuscaloosa, Ala.; daughters, Coneta Burns Guinn (Bruce) of Tuscaloosa, Ala. and Tammy Burns Barkley (Chuck) of Tuscaloosa, Ala.; brothers, Fred A. Brown (Donna) of Cullman, Ala. and Fred Allman (Sarah) of Mobile, Ala.; sisters-in-law, Genyth Brown of Auburn, Ala., Betsy Brown of Acworth, Ga., Elaine Sessions (Al) of Mobile, Ala., Becky Chappelle (Ronnie) of Addison, Ala. and Angie Lee (Vaughan) of Lubbock, Texas; brother-in-law, Eben Burns (Pam) of Ellijay, Ga.; grandchildren, Daniel Morton, Savannah Morton, John Ross Morton, Meredith Guinn, Natalie Guinn, Nicole Guinn Whittington, Jordan Shaw, Josh Shaw, Brittany Barkley and Tanner Barkley; and great-grandchildren, Joshua Shaw, Cadie Shaw, Rachael Whittington, Sammy Shaw and Dani Morton. Pat, Mom, Aunt Pat, Momo, Mrs. Burns, Mrs. Pat"� was an angel sent here to touch so many lives. She grew up in Marion Junction and Orrville, Ala. and went to college at Livingston University. There she met and married her lifelong sweetheart, John Burns, and graduated with a degree in education. She taught Art and PE at Thomaston, Sweetwater and Cox Health and lived in Half Acre, Ala. for 30+ years. When they retired, they moved to Tuscaloosa to be close to their girls and grandchildren. She enjoyed feeding anyone and everyone and never met a stranger. Though in her last years, she was not as mobile as she would have liked, she still attended Forest Lake United Methodist Church, was involved in the United Methodist Women and started the Tuscaloosa Area Lions Club. Her heart and soul existed to serve others. We will never know the true and total reach of this gracious woman's open and giving heart. Pallbearers will be Bruce Guinn, Tim Morton, Daniel Morton, Jordan Shaw, John Ross Morton, Chuck Barkley, Greg Burns, Bryant Williams, Sam Brown and Rick Jordan. Honorary pallbearers are Drew Brown, Frank Brown, Todd Allman and Shannon Allman. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that donations be made to the Tuscaloosa Area Lions Club, P. O. Box 72391 Tuscaloosa, AL 35407.
