Oscar Kindred

Oscar C. Kindred, age 68, of Tuscaloosa, Ala. died August 5, 2016 at Hospice of West Alabama. A memorial service will be 5 p.m. today, August 9, 2016, Magnolia Chapel Funeral Home South with Pastor Bart Terrell and Pastor Robert Johnson officiating and Magnolia Chapel Funeral Home South directing. He was preceded in death by his parents, Oscar Sr. and Imogene Kindred and twin sister, Glenda Kindred. Survivors include his daughter, Carlena Kindred; son, Eddie Kindred; siblings, Pat Townsend (Glen), Tom Kindred (Sherry), Belinda Frint (Jeff) and Betty Bell (Sonny); grandson, Wesley Kindred; and numerous nieces and nephews. Oscar joined the United States Navy in 1967 after graduating from Auburn High School in Rockford, Ill. He served in the Vietnam and received an honorable discharge. He moved to Alabama in 1984 and was employed as a truck driver for Waste Management. Oscar was a volunteer at the "Soup Kitchen" at Hargrove Road United Methodist Church. He gave to others with a caring heart.
