Ophelia Leavelle Jacobs TUSCALOOSA Ophelia Leavelle Jacobs, age 96, of Tuscaloosa, formerly of Greene County, died Sept. 9, 2013, at Hospice of West Alabama. Services will be 11 a.m. Thursday at Pleasant Hill Cumberland Presbyterian Church with Rev. William H. Betts officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery with Magnolia Chapel Funeral Home South directing. Visitation with the body lying in state will be one hour prior to services at the church. She was preceded in death by her husband, James C. Jacobs, Sr.; her parents, Joseph Wilburn Leavelle and Bessie Gandy Leavelle; one half-sister, Allie Florence Herndon of California; one twin sister, Mary Amelia Leavelle of Eutaw, Ala.; three other sisters, Clara Mae Swedenberg of Columbus, Miss., Helen Starkey Leavelle of Eutaw, Ala., and Mollie Leavelle Allen of Moundville, Ala.; and one brother, Joseph H. Leavelle of Eutaw, Ala. Survivors include her daughter, Nancy Jacobs Allen of Tuscaloosa; son, James (Jim) C. Jacobs, Jr. and his wife, Bettie (Bett) C. Jacobs of Tuscaloosa, Ala.; five grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild. Pallbearers will be Shawn Allen, Grant Jacobs, Christopher Jacobs, Aaron Reed, Jay Griffith, and Kenneth Leavelle. Honorary pallbearers are the staff at Forest Manor Nursing Home, the staff at Hospice of West Alabama, and the physicians and staff at Internal Medicine Associates of Tuscaloosa. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to Hospice of West Alabama or Pleasant Hill Cumberland Presbyterian Church.
