Oliver J. "Bud"� Strickland, age 88, passed away at home and went to be with his heavenly father on February 26, 2016. Services will be 11 a.m. Monday, February 29, 2016 with visitation one hour prior to service at Coker United Methodist Church with Rev. Woody Jones and Tim Long officiating. Burial will follow at Coker Cemetery with Magnolia Chapel North Funeral Home directing. Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m. Sunday, February 28, 2016, at Magnolia Chapel North Funeral Home. Mr. Strickland is preceded in death by his father, Verner Strickland; mother, Terria Strickland; brothers, Roff and LA Strickland; and sister, Elizabeth Gregory. Survivors include his wife of 60 years, Sarah Bland Strickland; daughters, Sonja Manning (Jon), Cindy Hartley (Joey), Debbie Rogers and Tina Hartley (AJ); sisters, Annie Merle Booth (John) and Shirley Calabreese; brother, James Strickland (Helen); seven grandchildren; eighteen great-grandchildren; and three great-great grandchildren; and a host of nieces and nephews. Pallbearers will be Marty Hall, Marty Oliver, Chris Hope, Jamey Fields, Jonathon Church, Dallas Hinton and Ethan Oliver. Honorary pallbearers are Riecholds Chemical, McAbee Construction, past and present members of Big Rack Hunting Club, Southern Care Hospice, Dr. William Aldridge, numerous doctors and nurses of DCH, Northport, Civitan Club, Mack Fair (Nell), Peggy McKnight, Friends of the Coker Community and surrounding areas. Daddy was an avid outdoorsman who loved fishing and hunting. After retirement he enjoyed working in his garden. He also loved Alabama Football. Most of all he loved spending time with his family and grandchildren. We love and miss you Papa! In lieu of flowers the family requests that donations be made to Southern Hospice and Northport Civitan.
