After graduating from Pensacola High School, Odie joined the Navy to serve in the Korean War. He served honorably aboard the destroyer USS Bradford. Upon returning to Mobile, he worked for the First National Bank, met and married Fairredean Williams, graduated from Spring Hill College, and had three sons. Odie was a longtime member of Cottage Hill Baptist Church and was active in the Optimist Club, including serving as regional governor. Mr. Williams helped organize unique events in the Mobile area such as the Miss USA Pageant and the National Governors Conference. He was appointed as a state bank examiner by Governor Guy Hunt. Odie moved to Moundville in 1993, becoming the loan officer of Bank of Moundville and a member of the Moundville Methodist Church. Although he moved briefly to Dauphin Island to work for the Bay Bank, he soon returned to Moundville where he had developed friendships of importance-most notably that of Ms. Carolyn Chandler. He also progressed from enthusiastic baker to cake-creator extraordinaire. Odie was a loyal and loving friend to many, and a devoted father and grandfather. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to Moundville Methodist Church.
