Nora Laird, age 84, of Northport, AL, passed away July 11, 2021 at Heritage Health Care.
She was preceded in death by her father, Daniel W. Laird; mother, Mary L. Laird; brother, Robert F. Laird; and daughter, Susan Kay Marshall.
Survivors include her daughters, Sherry Lynn Lang and Sheila Ann Shadd, both of Northport, AL; sisters, Elizabeth Alvaro of S. San Francisco, CA, Liz Laird of Modesto, CA, and Frances Beall of Fremont, CA; brother, Daniel Laird of Port Angeles, WA; and grandchildren, Jevon, Jasmine and Jessica Marshall of San Francisco, CA, and William "Alex" Price of Northport, AL, Daniel "Zach" Price of Birmingham, AL, Matthew "Patrick" O'Brien of Atlanta, GA; and Simone "Angel" Shadd of Northport, AL.
Nora Laird was born in The Philippines in 1936. Her family immigrated to the United States after World War II when she was eight years old. She grew up in San Francisco, California and graduated from Mission High School in 1954. She married Jerry "Fred" Shadd in 1955 with whom she had three daughters, Susan Kay Marshall, Sherry Lynn Lang, and Sheila Ann Shadd. She loved reading, music, and UA's Crimson Tide. She worked for the Emporium (now Macy's) in San Francisco for over 30 years as an executive secretary. She lived in Northport, Alabama for almost 20 years. Her surviving daughters also live in Northport. She formed a loving bond with her daughter Sherry's in-laws, Tony and Louise Lang and their family. She was a deeply religious person who loved her friends and family with all her heart.
