Nellie Colvin McGee COTTONDALE Nellie Colvin McGee of Cottondale, known to her grandchildren and friends as "Bobo", passed away Oct. 13, 2012, at the age of 102 at Hospice of West Alabama. Services will be 11 a.m. Tuesday at Magnolia Chapel Funeral Home South with Rev. Milford Watters officiating. Burial will follow in Tuscaloosa Memorial Park with Magnolia Chapel Funeral Home South directing. Visitation will be tonight from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home. She was preceded in death by her husband, Sampson Eldridge McGee; an infant daughter, Sherry Nell McGee; her mother, Mary Hester Hinton Colvin; her father, Richard Charner Colvin; her sisters, Lois Colvin Earnest and Mary Colvin Goodson; her brothers, Frank Colvin, Johnny Colvin, and Virgil Colvin; and her sons-in-law, Homer West and O'Neal Ray. Survivors include her daughter, Gladys Ray; her son, James E. "Buddy"� McGee (Carolyn); her grandchildren, Charles W. West (Debbi), Dennis West (Cheryl), Elisa M. Ember (David), Ashley McGee (Sara), Mark McGee, Chris McGee (Miriam), and Jennifer M. Wilson (Raiford "Bo"�); her step-grandchildren, Janice Wright, Linda Brett (John), Dwight Ray, and Dwayne Ray; her great-grandchildren, Emily Kalb, Brad West, Brett Ember, Meghan E. Adair, Rachael M. Pope, Jason McGee, James "Gee"� McGee, Jon McGee, Claudia McGee, Bryant Wilson, Walker Wilson, and Amy Watkins; her great-great-grandchildren, Jayci and Drake Kalb, Jacob and Josh Ember, Ryder McGee, and Lexi Grace and Elizabeth Watkins; and other relatives and friends. Mrs. McGee was born March 7, 1910, in Tuscaloosa. She was a faithful member of Cottondale Christian Church (Disciples of Christ), the church her grandparents B.F. and Julia Anderson Hinton helped to organize in 1885, for over 90 years. Her grandfather attended the first Convention of the Alabama Christian Churches (Disciples of Christ) in Selma, Alabama. Nell, with members of her family, attended the 100th Assembly of the Christian Churches in Alabama, also held in Selma. Her descendants are seventh-generation members of the same church. Nell was a stay-at-home mom. She was a longtime member of the Cottondale Cemetery Association and the Sunshine Club of the Cottondale United Methodist Church. For the past 15 years she has lived with her daughter Gladys, her primary caregiver who took loving and diligent care of her. Pallbearers will be her grandsons and great-grandsons. Honorary pallbearers are members of Cottondale Christian Church (Disciples of Christ), Sunshine Club of Cottondale United Methodist Church, friends of the Cottondale community, Dr. David Harding, and doctors and staff of Hospice of West Alabama. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Cottondale Christian Church (Disciples of Christ), P.O.
