Nellie Griffen

Nellie O. Nevin Griffin, age 80, died April 21, 2017 at Hospice of West Alabama. A graveside service will be held 3 p.m. Sunday, April 23, 2017 at Oak Hill Cemetery with Rev. Charles Spence officiating and Magnolia Funeral Home South directing. She was preceded in death by her parents, Rufus Nevin and Lorene Nevin Jones. Survivors include her husband of 67 years, Paul Griffin; step sister, Bonnie McKay; and Godchildren, Ted McClain, Kim McClain Watkins, Christopher Corley, and Rachel Corley Gaddy. Special thanks to her cousins, John McCray and Peggy Rice for the loving care provided to her above and beyond to make her last days as comfortable as possible. After retirement, Nellie enjoyed working in her flower garden and caring for her cat and dog. Nellie had a special love for children and was a Girl Scout leader for the Moundville troop for many years. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that donations be made to the charity of their choice.
