Elizabeth Geddie Carroll TUSCALOOSA | Elizabeth Geddie Carroll, age 91, of Tuscaloosa, went to her heavenly home April 7, 2015. Services will be 1 p.m. Friday, April 10, 2015, at Big Sandy United Methodist Church with Rev. John Drawhorn and Rev. Grant Carroll officiating. The body will lie in state 30 minutes prior to the service. Burial will follow at Oak Hill Cemetery in Moundville, Ala. Visitation will be Thursday, April 9, 2015, at Magnolia Chapel South from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. She is preceded in death by her husband, Glynn Carroll; son, Donald Carroll; parents, Isaac and Stella Geddie; brothers, T. L. Geddie and Wesley Geddie; sister, Theora Geddie; and son-in-law, Ray Chandler. Survivors include her daughter, Grace Chandler; son, Bruce Carroll (Martha); daughter-in-law, Amelia Carroll; grandchildren, Marla Dare (Austin), Tommy Chandler (Karla), Clay Carroll, Shaun Carroll, Grant Carroll (Camille) and Clint Carroll (Heather); great-grandchildren, Chandler Dare, Parker Dare, Davis Dare, Grayson Chandler, Reese Chandler, Joseph Carroll, Nathan Carroll, Lilly Fran Carroll, Brooks Carroll and Abby Kate Carroll; and many nieces and nephews. Elizabeth was an active member of Big Sandy United Methodist Church where she held numerous leadership roles. She treasured the fellowship and support of members of the United Methodist Women. She enjoyed making crafts, canning and baking for their annual bizarre to support missions. She loved and supported her family unconditionally. Her hobbies were cooking, canning and gardening, and she took great pride in sharing all of the fruits of her labor with family and friends in the community. She cherished visits from her grand and great-grandchildren and welcomed all with a sweet smile and a treat from her kitchen. Pallbearers will be Troy Brown, John Carroll, William Carroll, Sonny Elmore, Kirt Warren and Rogers Warren. Honorary pallbearers are residents and staff of Hamrick Highlands Assisted Living and members of the United Methodist Women of Big Sandy United Methodist Church. Her family would like to thank Dr. Bob Grubbs and the medical staff of seventh floor east and the TSICU staff of DCH Regional Medical Center for their loving care during her recent stay. In lieu of flowers, her family has requested donations be made in her memory to Big Sandy United Methodist Church, 1141 McPherson Landing Road, Tuscaloosa, AL 35405.
