Myrtle Taylor

Myrtle J. Horton Taylor, age 79, of Cottondale, died Sept. 18, 2011, at Northport Medical Center-DCH. Services will be 4 p.m. Friday at Magnolia Chapel Funeral Home South with Rev. Leon White officiating. Burial will follow in Big Hurricane Cemetery with Magnolia Chapel Funeral Home South directing. Visitation will be one hour prior to services at the funeral home. She was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas Taylor; her mother and father, Vonnie Battles and Elijah Horton; her brother, Wilbur Horton; and other relatives. Survivors include her daughter, Glenda Jones of Birmingham; her son, Glenn Taylor of Birmingham; five sisters, Maggie Gregory (Fleetwood) of Cottondale, Mary Turner (Melvin) of Tuscaloosa, Ethel Gaddy of Duncanville, Joyce Scott (Bill) of Brookwood, and Sue Lee (Glenn) of Gordo; her brother, Billy Tubbs of Coker; and her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Pallbearers will be family and friends. Honorary pallbearers are Dr. Shamblin and nurse Genia; special friends Irene, Brenda, Mary, Terry, Kristi, and others; and Park Manor nurses and staff.
