Mona Olera Franklin Turner TUSCALOOSA Mona Olera Franklin Turner, age 93, of Tuscaloosa, died August 27, 2013, at Hospice of West Alabama. Services will be 11 a.m. Friday at Magnolia Chapel Funeral Home South with Rev. Jimmy Garner and Rev. Phillip Boyles officiating. Burial will follow in Bethel Presbyterian Church Cemetery with Magnolia Chapel Funeral Home South directing. Visitation will be Friday one hour prior to services at the funeral home. She was preceded in death by her husband, Edwin Auston Turner; parents, Jack Miller Franklin and Myrtis Daisy Roberts Franklin; sister, Imogene F. Wilson; brothers, Huet, Homer and Hamp Franklin; and grandson, David Turner. Survivors include daughters, Mary Walker (Dewey), Lois Stephens (Andrew), and Twilla Cummings; son, Jackie Turner (Jane); sister, Caryl Sarrett; brother, Huel "Peachie" Franklin (Hazel); grandchildren, Paul Turner, Andy Stephens (Jammie), Scott Cummings (Mary Jo), Racheal Chamblee (Ed), Jonathan Turner (Cheri), Demitra Snellgrove, Lee Walker and Cammie Flowers; 15 great-grandchildren; and special friends, Nancy Stephens, Charlotte Robinson, Ruth McDuff, Rose Skelton, Joyce Reynolds, Sue Swanger, Jean Fishburg, and Linda Gamble. Mother loved sewing, flowers, gardening, pretty clothes and jewelry. She had a strong faith in her Savior, Jesus Christ. She was a faithful member of Holt Baptist Church for 68 years. A leg injury caused her to have a leg brace for many years. Now she is "running and walking" those golden streets of Heaven and talking with Jesus. She was a wonderful wife, mother, granny, aunt and friend. Mother, we miss and love you and one day will be reunited with you in Heaven. Pallbearers will be Andy Stephens, Keith Stephens, Scott Cummings, Austin Cummings, Tommy Hassell, Mickey Wilson, Jonathan Turner, and Paul Turner. Honorary pallbearers are residents of Clara Verner Towers, members of Holt Baptist Church, Skyland Blvd. Baptist Church and Taylorville United Methodist Church, the staffs of Heritage Hills Nursing Home and Hospice of West Alabama. Also Dr. Gene Alldredge and staff, Wayne and Freida Montgomery, Lawanda Hollyhand and Janie Grant. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made to Hospice of West Alabama or Holt Baptist Church.
