Minnie Griffin

Minnie Ward Bamberg Griffin, age 96, of Brent, Ala., died September 8, 2017. Services will be 2 p.m. September 13, 2017 at Bethel Baptist Church, Brent, with Rev. Reuben Compere and Rev. Al Finch officiating. Burial will follow in Bethel Baptist Church Cemetery with Magnolia Chapel Funeral Home South directing. Visitation will be 6-8 p.m. September 12, 2017 at the church. She is preceded in death by her husband, William Pratt Griffin; parents, Robert and Minnie Bamberg; and brothers, Joe and Red Bamberg. Survivors include: daughters, Helen Griffin and Pat Hearon (Bobby); son, Billy Griffin (Debbie); grandchildren, Trey Griffin (Amanda) and Jason Griffin. Mrs. Ward was the church organist at Bethel Baptist Church for 65 years, where she also taught Sunday school for many years. She was a cum laude graduate of Montevallo College. She worked for many years as business woman in Brent and Centreville. She was married to William Pratt for 62 years before his death in 2013; he served as a deacon at Bethel Baptist Church. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations be made to the Bethel Baptist Church cemetery fund.
