Michael E. Middleton Sr. age 75, of Tuscaloosa Al passed away on August 3rd, 2020. He is preceded in death by his father A.W. (Bill) Middleton and mother Sadye Carriere Middleton, brothers William and Barry Middleton, as well as foster son Charles Findley. He is survived by his wife Christine Dolan Middleton, his two children, Michael Jr. (Brooke) and Margaret Middleton Reidenbach (Mark), and four grandchildren, Liam and Bailey Middleton, and Andrew and William Reidenbach. He is also survived by his sister Sarah Martin(Jim), sister in law Anne Middleton and several nieces and nephews.
Born in Yazoo City MS in 1944 Mike was raised a devout Catholic. His life was dedicated to service and education. He graduated from Spring Hill College in Mobile where he earned his degree in History. He went on to work for STAR, a Federal program promoting adult literacy. Mike served as a Sergeant in the U.S. Army and was stationed at Ft. Polk, where he trained soldiers during the Vietnam Era. After his service he and his wife moved to Alabama where he attended Graduate school at the University of Alabama. He received his Masters degree in Special Education. He helped in the founding of the Charles Sprayberry Regional Education Center which provided a unique educational environment for special needs and gifted children. He served as Principal of the school for around 20 years. He was a member of Holy Spirit Catholic Parish and served on the Holy Spirit school board for 12 years. He thoroughly enjoyed coaching youth sports. Mike was blessed to be married to his wife Christine Dolan Middleton for 50 years. He was a great father and in his retirement he enjoyed becoming a grandfather and watching his family grow. Special thanks to the doctors and nurses who have cared for Mike throughout the years. Also, thanks to family friends, Thomas P. Davis, James Broughton, Alex Bowab, David Franklin, Sarah Campbell, and David McNeil. The Funeral Mass will be held on Wednesday, August 12, 2020 beginning at 10am, at Holy Spirit Catholic Church with Father John Fallon presiding.
