Michael Jennings

Michael P. Jennings, age 46 of Tuscaloosa, Alabama passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, January  11, 2022 at DCH Regional Medical Center. A 10:00 am Mass will be held on Tuesday, January 18, 2022 at St. Francis Catholic Church with Father James Ackerman officiating and Magnolia Chapel South directing. Burial will follow at Tuscaloosa Memorial Park. Visitation will be held on Monday, January 17, 2022  at Magnolia Chapel South from 2:00 pm to 4:00pm.

He was born April 1, 1975, in Olney Illinois to Homer and Virginia (Ginny) Jennings.  He was 46 years young.
Mike is a 1993 graduate of East Richland High School in Olney. He earned his bachelor's degree in Chemistry from the University of Illinois and PhD from Purdue, one with a side of basketball and both with excellence in his field. He then worked as a postdoctoral fellow at the Scripps Research Institute. He joined the faculty of the University of Alabama in 2003 where he taught, inspired, befriended, and supported his students, staff, and faculty until his death.

Mike is survived by his wife, Chris, and their three amazing daughters Katherine (Katie), Caroline (Callie), and Charlotte (Charlie), as well as Millie, Skittles, and Flower, all of Tuscaloosa, Alabama.  He is also survived by his Parents and his brother Mark Jennings and his wife, Cindy of Olney Illinois.  He is also survived by a multitude of nieces and nephews who he loved with all of his heart.
"I was just meant to be a girl dad." he said on multiple occasions.  And he was.  Caring, kind, thoughtful, patient.  All the things his three girls could ever need.
