Meredith Gilliam

Meredith (Rick) Watson Gilliam, age 90, of Northport, Al. went to be with her Lord Jesus on Monday, September 28, 2020. Graveside services will be 10:00 am Friday, October 2, 2020, at Sulpher Springs FWB Church in Samantha with Rev. Michael Oliver and Rev. Greg Allen officiating and Magnolia Chapel North directing.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Monroe and Theo Watson; her husband of 66 years, Rev. Elzie Gilliam and infant son; daughter-in-law, Cathy Gilliam; grandson, Jason Gilliam; and great grandson, Logan Crawford. She was the last of 5 siblings.

Survivors include her sons, Wade Gilliam (Kathy), Wayne Gilliam (Anabel), and Wally Gilliam (Melissa); daughters, Lawanda Williamson (Ricky) and Celia Gilliam (Joe); 13 grandchildren, 23 great grandchildren, two great- grandchildren, and a host of nieces and nephews.

Mother was a devoted servant of God, she and Daddy, Rev. Elize Gilliam served in Ministry for years, she taught, witnessed and prayed for many. She cooked meals and made pies and made visits as long as she was able. Mother's life was to serve her Jesus, family, and Church. She was a prayer warrior. She prayed continually for everyone, especially her family. She was an inspiration to everyone she met. Mother was a hard worker, We are blessed that she was Our Mother! Proverbs 31:28. Mother said, " My last request is to meet my Family in Heaven." Her favorite songs were Glad Reunion Day and This is Just What Heaven Means to Me. She will be greatly missed but we know she is at Home.

Pallbearers will be grandsons, Jimmy Gilliam, Randy Jackson, Timmy Gilliam, Cole Gilliam, Anthony Gilliam, and Ryan Smith.

Honorary pallbears are Allen and Kathy Brom, Rev. Alford Banks, Rev, Terrell Jones, Rev. Jerry Montgomery, Barbra and Doyle Sanford, Harold Vinston family, Bro. Stanley Sanford, Bro. James South, Ladies from Northport Church of God, Presbyterian Apt. frends, Sulpher Springs FWB Church, Samantha Community, Staff Station 2 Forest Manor NH, Hospice of West Alabama, and annyone that went to see Mother, prayed and ministered to her.

We want to thank everyone for their thoughts and prayers.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks donations be made to Sulpher Springs FWB Cemetery Fund or Hospice of West Alabama.
