Mellie R. Dunn MOUNDVILLE - Mellie R. Dunn, age 84, of Moundville, died Friday, February 19, 2016, at Moundville Health & Rehabilitation. Services will be 1 p.m. Monday, February 22, 2016, at Magnolia Chapel Funeral Home South with Sister Reba Wiley officiating. Burial will follow in Oak Hill Cemetery with Magnolia Chapel Funeral Home South directing. Visitation will be Sunday, February 21, 2016, from 6 to 8 p.m., at the funeral home. She was preceded in death by her husband, Ray Dunn; parents, Melvin and Dora B. Hoggle; brothers, Aubrey Hoggle, Olen Hoggle, Sr. and Claudie Hoggle; and sister, Katie Jenkins. Survivors include her sons, Ray Johnston (Louise) and Carey Johnston of California; daughters, Nina Johnston (Al) of California and Nancy Koski of California; grandchildren, Kelly Johnston (Rachel), Kevin Johnston (Holly), Kenny Johnston (Brooke), Sondra Koski, Tommy Koski, Diana Hughes (Jamie), Dan Benson (Michele), Richard Confetti, Amber Johnston, Cheri Hammond and Ryan Jacobs (Bridget); 18 great-grandchildren; and several great-great-grandchildren. Mellie retired from the Moundville Police Department as a dispatcher. She loved gardening and her flowers. She loved to cook and always had food ready. Mellie was especially close to her sister, Katie Jenkins. She loved her family and friends. She loved cutting up with the employees of Moundville Health & Rehabilitation. She was a great mother and grandmother and will be truly missed. Pallbearers will be Kelly Johnston, Kevin Johnston, Kenny Johnston, Jared Johnston, Kaleb Johnston, Carter Johnston, River Johnston and Hunter Bailey. Honorary pallbearers are all employees of Moundville Health & Rehabilitation, Dr. Larry Skelton, her special friend Taurus Turner as she called ""Jerry"", friends of Moundville community and Patricia Vanhorn.
