May Prickett

Tuscaloosa - May Hosey Prickett, age 80, died Thursday, Jan. 3, 2019, at Moundville Health and
Rehab in Moundville, Alabama. She was born December 16, 1938, in Birmingham, AL
and moved to Tuscaloosa in 1953. She is a graduate of Tuscaloosa High School and
earned her B.S. degree in education from the University of Alabama and her Masters in
education from the University of Alabama in Birmingham. She taught 28 years in the
Tuscaloosa and Jefferson County School Systems.
She married Bill Prickett in 1957. As the wife of a United Methodist minister, she
enjoyed living in various communities and towns throughout the North Alabama
Conference. She and her husband traveled extensively throughout the United States
and Europe. They both enjoyed spending time with their children and grandchildren.
She is survived by her children, Nancy Prickett Hollis and Bill Prickett. Nancy is married
to Pete Hollis, and they have one child, Hannah. They reside in Tuscaloosa.
Bill is married to Anne Rocco Prickett, and they have four children, Elizabeth Newbern,
Megan, Anna Kate, and Sean. They reside in Franklin, Tennessee.
She is preceded in death by her husband of sixty years, William D. Prickett, Sr. of
Tuscaloosa, Parents, Velma and Thomas Hosey of Tuscaloosa, brother, Robert H.
Hosey of Decatur, Alabama, and grandson, Joseph William Prickett.
Additional survivors include Yvonne and Stan Andrews, George and Glenda Thomas,
Ann Prickett Taylor, and numerous nephews and nieces.
Visitation will be Sunday, January 6, 2019, at First United Methodist Church of
Tuscaloosa, at 1:30 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. A graveside service will follow at 3:30 p.m. at
Tuscaloosa Memorial Park.
Pallbearers will be Geoff Plott, Sean Prickett, Adam Newbern, Glenn Klicker, Stan
Andrews, and Pete Hollis.
Honorary pallbearers will be the Nurses and Staff of Moundville Health and Rehab
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Tuscaloosa First United Methodist Church
at 800 Greensboro Ave., Tuscaloosa, AL 35401.
Magnolia Chapel Funeral Home South is in charge of arrangements.
