Mary Sue Fitts Nee Bicknell

Mary Fitts nee Bicknell, of Tuscaloosa passed on Tuesday December 7, 2021. She was 85 years old. She was preceded in death by her spouse MC Fitts, and her parents I.J. and Arminda Bicknell. She is survived by her two sisters Edna Bryan and Joyce Yeager, her brother Jeff Bicknell, her two daughters Karen Robertson (Kirk) and Connie Turner ( Ricky) and son Marvin Fitts and her grandchildren Tyler Roberts (Anna), Maeghan Baugher (Reece), JT Roberts (Allison), Abby Turner, Bella Turner and four great grandchildren.

Mary was born in Blount County Alabama in 1936. She graduated from J.B. Pennington High School and afterwards, attended the University of Alabama where she graduated with a bachelor's degree. She married the love of her life MC Fitts in 1956 and they celebrated 50 years of marriage in 2006, the year of his passing.

She taught at Coker Elementary for several years before teaching at West End Christian until 1970. She was employed at various other positions until 1996 - 2015 when she worked for Turner Plumbing - her last employer. Mary was a devout Christian and strived to follow the examples set by Christ to serve others, which she was wholly committed to and executed with flourish throughout her life.

There was nothing she loved more than to prepare food for her family. It gave her such joy and purpose for all the years she graced this earth.
We all face different circumstances in life, however; there is a common thread shared by all, we are born to die. What we do with our time in between is the mark we leave on the world. Our mother understood the importance of utilizing the time in between, not to leave her mark on the world, but to carve a path for her family and friends to grow and prosper in faith and love. She lived her life for others, setting aside her wants and needs, as her satisfaction came from giving. And we, her devoted, loving family will forever be indebted to her for that love.

A graveside service is planned for Friday, December 10, 2021 at 11:00 am at Tuscaloosa Memorial Park with Magnolia Chapel South directing.
