Mary Bayer Sloan EUTAW Mary Bayer Sloan, age 85, of Eutaw, died Dec. 18, 2012, at home. Services will be 11 a.m. Friday at St. Stephen's Episcopal Church in Eutaw with the Rev. Josiah Rengers officiating. Burial will follow in St. Mark's Episcopal Church Cemetery in Boligee with Magnolia Chapel Funeral Home South directing. She was preceded in death by her husband, Richard Crofton Sloan Sr., and her parents, Spencer Droke Bayer and Jeanie Gould Bayer. Survivors include her daughters, Rebecca Bayer Sloan of Eutaw and Frances Sloan McRae of Madison, Miss.; her sons, Richard Crofton Sloan Jr. of Tupelo, Miss. and John McKee Sloan Sr. of Birmingham; and her grandchildren, Rollin Sloan, Shipman Sloan, Spencer Sloan, Crofton Sloan III, Mary Alleta Saunders, Bill Saunders, Sloan Saunders, McKee Sloan Jr., Mary Nell Sloan, David McRae, and Sarah McRae. Mrs. Sloan was born in Boligee, Alabama and graduated from the University of Alabama. She was a longtime resident of Vicksburg, Mississippi. She was married to Richard Crofton Sloan for 52 years, a mother of four and grandmother of 11. She was a faithful member of Holy Trinity Episcopal Church in Vicksburg, Miss. and St. Stephen's in Eutaw. Pallbearers will be her grandsons. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Stephen's Episcopal Church of Eutaw or St. Mark's Episcopal Church of Boligee.
