Mary Brown

The world lost a fascinating woman, Mrs. Mary Elizabeth "Doodley" Brown, on December 5th, 2017. Known fondly by all as "Doodley" she was a beacon of light and constant source of smiles and laughter. Doodley was born in Tuscaloosa, Ala. on November 15, 1915, and passed away peacefully surrounded by loving family and caregivers. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Ralph Vernon Brown; her sons, Charles Brown and Joe Brown; her sisters, Flora Bell Duncan, Pauline Beckham, and Virginia Johnston. She is survived by her grandchildren, Greg (Kalea) Brown, Glenda K. Brown, Glenn (Kelly) Brown, Ralph (Shelly) Brown, Mac (Tina) Brown; and her great-grandchildren, Kylie, Tyler, Courtney, Libby Mac, Ella Bleu; and numerous nieces and nephews. Doodley"s multiple activities included Postmistress of the Cypress Post Office and serving her community and church. She was recognized by the Town of Moundville for her service as a police dispatcher and was a decades long member of the Moundville Baptist Church. Doodley loved cooking wonderful dinners for her family, hunting and fishing. The family thanks Doodley"s caregivers of Moundville Rehabilitation Center and West Alabama Hospice. They convey special thanks to Dr. Skelton. Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, December 7, 2017, at Oakhill Cemetery in Moundville with Reverend Jason Duckett officiating and Magnolia Chapel Funeral Home South directing.
