Martha Fuller

Martha Holder Fuller Martha Ann Holder Fuller, of Reform, Ala., died Friday, October 2, 2015 in Houston, Tex., at the age of 67. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, October 6 at Reform First United Methodist Church, 807 3rd St NE, with Magnolia Chapel of Tuscaloosa directing and Rev. Alan Head officiating. Friends are welcome to visit with her family at the church beginning at 10:00 a.m., with funeral services to immediately follow at 11:30 a.m. A private graveside service will be held at Shady Grove Cemetery in Panola, Ala., with Rev. Rayford Etherton officiating. Born on November 21, 1947 in Birmingham, Ala., Mrs. Fuller grew up and attended school in West End and graduated from McAdory High School in Bessemer. She received a Bachelor"�s degree from Livingston University and earned her Master"�s in Education from the University of Alabama. She was a long-time member of Alpha Delta Kappa teacher"�s sorority. While at Livingston, she met her husband Larry, married in 1969, and moved to Reform. She spent 37 years as an educator at Reform Elementary School, taught numerous grade levels, mostly 3rd, and served as a reading specialist. During her career, over 1,000 students at RES were taught and influenced by her caring, tireless efforts. She retired in 2006, to dedicate time to her church, community, and her children and grandchildren. Mrs. Fuller was a member of Reform First United Methodist Church for nearly 50 years, served as the youth leader, and later on numerous committees. She was also active in the Reform community, served on the park board and was a long-time supporter of the Pickens County High Tornadoes. Much of her charitable and civic work was done behind the scenes, as she was never one to seek credit or publicity for her actions. She was preceded in death by her father, Paul Holder of Reform, her sister Paula Holder Fitts of Gardendale, and her beloved grandmother Eunice Stubbs of Northport. She is survived by her mother, Jackie Holder of Tuscaloosa; her husband of 46 years, Larry Fuller of Reform; children Mike Fuller (Cathy) of Mason, Ohio, Cori Fuller Sutton (Keith) of Northport, Becki Fuller Shaughnessy (John), of Sumter, SC, and Kyle Fuller of Troy; sister Kathy Holder McCrary (Ricky), of Reform; and her five grandchildren, Andrew and Ryan Sutton, Jack and Matt Fuller, and Emily Shaughnessy. In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory can be made to Reform First United Methodist Church or to the National Breast Cancer Coalition and their Deadline 2020 campaign.
