Mark Key of Cottondale, Alabama passed away at 57 years old on Friday, July 30th 2021 at UAB Pallative Care. He was born in Alabama on August 7th 1963. Mark was the child of Peggy Stevens Key and William Alfred Key. He was one of 13 children and is survived by his sisters Alice South, Carol Jones, Wanda Stovall, and Theresa Key. Marks other siblings, William Key, Etta Fleming, Charlie Key, Patricia McCloud, Clyde Key, Delano Key, Jenette Key, and Matthew Key all preceded him in death. Mark had a blend of his fathers musical talent, and his mothers artistic gift. As a young adult he was an Elvis Presley impersonator. He would make his own costumes and had the voice and looks to go along. His skill as an artist was comparable to Norman Rockwall. Mark was a very kind, loving, hardworking man. He took and empty shell of a house and turned it into his castle. In Marks younger years he passionately dove into construction. He enjoyed creating art in any form. Marks smile, voice, and artistic talent were unforgettable. Mark was a wonderful, loving, and giving father to 6 children. He is survived by, Doug Key, Kayla Key, Amber Key, Bethany Key, and Mark Key Jr. Stacy Key preceded him in death. Mark was a single father since the first years of Bethany Key and Mark Key Jrs lives. He worked hard to provide anything they needed whether it was for school, holidays, or emotional support. Mark Jr and Bethany were the prince and princess of his castle.
Services will be held on Tuesday, August 3, 2021at Magnolia Chapel South at 1:00 pm. Burial will follow in Magnolia Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm at the funeral home.
