She is preceded in death by her parents, Edgar Setser and Annie O. Setser; husband of 62 loving years, J.P. Johnson; an infant son, Eddie Joe Johnson and sisters Marguerete Scarbrough and Shawnee Dixon.

Survivors include her sisters, Marlene Ross (Dewayne) Victorville, CA; Marvone Munday (Phil) San Marcos, CA; Martha Allen (Richard) Cottondale, AL; Marcele Dale (Gary) Salt Lake City, UT and brothers Mark Setser (Karen) Brea, CA; Marlin Setser (Judy) Elrod, AL. Born on July 5, 1934, the Setser family traveled where work took them which wrote a beautiful story filled with adventure during both hard times and prosperous times that spanned from Texas to Oklahoma and California only to settle in Alabama where they would make Cottondale their home. Upon marrying J.P. Johnson, they started a beautiful family that gave them 13 grandchildren. These grandchildren became the center of their lives and Marion was forever known from that day forward as “MawMaw” to everyone that knew her. Life in the Johnson family was filled with trips to the mountains, the beach or the rivers where life lessons and memories of a lifetime were created for all to cherish. Every child in the community knew “MawMaw”; as her door was always open where all were welcomed with unconditional love, a smile and a warm meal. She left a lasting impression on all whom met her.

Pallbearers will be her grandsons Shannon Terrell, Chris Terrell, Wesley Garner, Josh Shaw, Jeremy Shaw, Jonathan Burroughs and Matthew Ellard.

Honorary pallbearers are Hospice of West Alabama, Dr. Nancy Tactuk, Dr. Sakina Kamal, Aspire Physical Recovery Center, residents of the Cottondale community, past and present; members of Cottondale United Methodist Church, United Methodist Women, Rickey Johnson, Randy Pugh, Linda Morrison Clemons, Lynn Morrison, Morri “Bee” Morrison, Ashley Balentine, personal caregiver Faye Jones, and Carolyn McGee.

The family would like to recognize with special thanks Rev. Jeremiah Wilson for his steadfast compassion, care, prayer and pastoral service to Mrs. Johnson and her family.
