Marion Dorman Harkey

Marion Dorman Harkey, age 79, of Northport, Alabama, was called home to Heaven Tuesday evening, December 17, 2024. She was born May 29, 1945 in Orlando, Florida and later attended Lee College (University) in Cleveland, Tennessee. During that time, she met the love of her life, Ray Harkey, of Tuscaloosa, and married in March 1971. Their fifty-three -year marriage is a wonderful testimony of God's amazing providence and produced two daughters, Pamela Darlene and Susan Paige.

Marion was employed locally by Phifer Wire and Mercedes Benz, where she retired in 2004. She was an enthusiastic volunteer and treasurer of the Tuscaloosa Squadron of the Civil Air Patrol. Marion was a longtime member of Northport Church of God and New Beginning Family Worship Center. She was a devoted follower of Jesus Christ for most of her life and always ready with an encouraging word for her family, friends, and even total strangers. She was particularly fond of veterans and loved her country deeply.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Fred and Pearl Dorman. Marion is survived by her loving husband, Ray; daughters, Darlene (Mark) Stracener of Northport, and Paige Harkey of Bentonville, Arkansas; two grandchildren, Nathan and Rachel Stracener of Northport; and brother, Phil (Marilyn) Dorman of Sorrento, Florida.

A graveside service will be held Friday, December 20, at 2 p.m., Williamson Cemetery in Northport with Bro. Randy Fuller and Bro. Greg Strickland officiating and Magnolia Chapel North directing. Her family takes comfort in her years of abiding faith in her Savior, with whom she now eternally resides. We love you "May May"!
