Margie Burns Walker, age 91, of Ralph, died March 21, 2019 at Hospice of West Alabama after a brief illness. Services will be 2 pm Sunday, March 24, 2019, at Magnolia Chapel Funeral Home South with Rev. Lyn Gibson and Rev. Don Springer officiating. Burial will follow at Wesley Chapel in Ralph, Al. with Magnolia Chapel directing.

Visitation will be from 12 noon - 2 pm prior to service @ funeral home. A special musical tribute by nieces and nephews from the Burns family, will be performed at start of service.

Affectionately known as Mom, Gran, Margie and Aunt Margie, she was known for her infectious smile and laughter that she spread to everyone she came in contact with until March 11, when she suffered a stroke. She was a great cook and had perfected her caramel cake and peanut brittle recipes that she generously shared with others.

She grew up in Shiloh Baptist Church and after marrying, moved membership to Wesley Chapel Church where she was an active member and Sunday school teacher. Over the past 20 years, she attended Romulus Methodist Church where she still drove to church every Sunday.  She graduated from Tuscaloosa County High School and retired from the US Postal Service after 25 years of service.

Margie was preceded in death by her parents, Hartwell and Mary Lee Powell Burns;  husband, Ross H Walker; son, Ross H. Walker Jr and brother, Maurice Burns.

Survivors include daughter, Sharon Fair (Lawrence), grandsons: Kevin Fair (Leigh Ann); Keith Fair (Jennifer); Brad Walker (Lauren) Jeff Walker (Amber); great-grandchildren, Haiden , Karsyn, Ellyn and Jackson Fair.  Sisters, Jane Sellers (Morgan); Norma Wilson (James); Brenda Shewmake; Brothers, Gerald Burns (Judy); Dan Burns (Leona); Rayburn Burns (Elaine); and sister in-law, JoAnn Burns.

Special thanks to Dr. Anand Pandey, Barbie Cleino CRNP, Dr. Barry Gould, Dr. Karen Walker and Dr. Robert Moore for the wonderful medical care the past several years that helped keep her active and able to live alone and care for herself. We would also like to thank the wonderful staff at Hospice of West Alabama for the care given the last 6 days of her life.

Pallbearers will be grandsons, Kevin Fair, Keith Fair, Jeff Walker; great grandsons, Haiden Fair, Karsyn Fair; and nephew, Terry Burns.

Honorary pallbearers will be friends and neighbors, Fosters-Ralph Vol Fire Dept and Tuscaloosa Co Farmers Federation and women's committee.

In lieu of flowers, the family request memorials be made to Hospice of West Alabama, 3851 Loop Rd, Tuscaloosa, Al. 35404 or Wesley Chapel Cemetery Fund, c/o Sealy Park, 14370 Sipsey Valley Rd, S., Ralph, Al  35480.
