Margaret Gail Whitely, 80 of Pleasant Grove, Alabama, was called to her eternal resting place on May 28, 2021, at a McCalla nursing home. Born February 11, 1941, in Birmingham, Alabama to Morrison Ralph "Slim" Whitely and Margaret Thom Whitely. She was raised in Greensboro, Alabama, graduated from Greensboro High School and attended Livingston University. Living her adult life in Birmingham, she always called Greensboro "home" and loved visiting family and friends when she could. Gail was self employed and helped raised many babies that she called all her children.
Gail was active in her churches, Wylam Presbyterian Church serving as an elder and Pleasant Grove Presbyterian Church. She enjoyed teaching Sunday School and singing in the choir. Gail loved her church family and loved her neighborhood circle of friends who were all so good to her.
She is survived by cousins, Kathy and Ralph Cothran, George and Karen Thom, Nancy Johnston Steadmon, Ann Johnston Liddell, Jane Whitely, Jack Whitely and Jimmy Noone. Gail also leaves two very special "grandsons", Drummond Liddell and Ian Liddell- she was their "Abby".
The family would like to thank Plantation Manor for the excellent care they provided to Gail over the last year and a half.
The cremation will be handled by Magnolia South Funeral Home of Tuscaloosa, Alabama
