Madeleine Shipley

Madeleine Smithson Shipley, age 88, of Moundville, Alabama passed away September 7, 2019 at Moundville Health and Rehab. Visitation will be held at Magnolia Chapel South on Tuesday, September 10, 2019 from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. Graveside Services will be held at Oak Hill Cemetery Tuesday September 10, 2019 at 11:30 a.m. with Brother Scott Stevens officiating.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Ruth Warren Smithson and Leonard Dewey Smithson.

Survivors include her loving husband of 68 years, Rufus E. Shipley; daughter, Deborah Shipley Hamby(Gordon); son, Barton Clay Shipley(Deborah); sister, Margaret Smithson Rice; brothers, Thomas E. Smithson(Joan) and Howard Smithson(Audrey); grandchildren, Adam S. Crowe(Jennie), Ronald Culver(Stephanie) and Jennifer Molina(Raul); great grandchildren, Liam Crowe, Emmalyn Crowe, Cooper Crowe, Hannah Culver, Jonah Culver, Judah Culver, Gracie Culver, Noah Culver, Ashton Curtis, Brandon Curtis, Caleb Moore, Olivia Moore, and Katie Molina.

Mrs. Shipley was incredibly patient and a loving wife, mother, and caregiver. Energetic, confident, filled with joy, ever hopeful, and always smiling. She was a nurse for 45 years and co-owner with her husband on multiple successful entrepreneurial-type businesses. She will be missed by everyone who knew her.

Pallbearers will be Adam Crowe, Joey Smithson, Lewis Shipley, Clifford Daniel, Jay Rice, Dan Smithson, Jeff Smithson and Liam Crowe.

Honorary pallbearers are the staff of Moundville Health and Rehab, staff of the Bank of Moundville, daily caregivers Donna Sealy, Gwen McAlpine and Linda Daniel, Hairdressers, Nesa Terry(Nesa's), Brittany Johnson(Blush Salon) and Alice Brown, and Neighbors of Valley View Gardens Circle.
