Lutie Belle Clary Massengale MOUNDVILLE Lutie Belle Clary Massengale, age 93, of the Stewart community, went to be with her Lord May 4, 2013, at Moundville Health and Rehabilitation. Services will be 2 p.m. Monday, May 6, 2013, at Moundville Baptist Church with Rev. Scott Stevens officiating. Graveside services will follow at Tuscaloosa Memorial Park with Magnolia Chapel Funeral Home South directing. The family will receive friends tonight from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home. Viewing will be one hour prior to services at the church. She was preceded in death by her husband, John Lloyd Massengale; parents, Ludie T. and Francis O. Clary; brother, Thomas W. Clary; and son-in-law, Ronny Kelton. Survivors include her daughter, Sandra M. Kelton of Moundville; son, Thomas L. Massengale (Glenda) of Birmingham; beloved sister, Annie Ruth Clary Smith; beloved sister-in-law, Evelyn M. Massengale; grandchildren, Rhonda McKee (Bret), John Kelton (Julie), Kristin Beason (John), Kelly Cheshier (Jacob), and Beth Massengale; and 16 great-grandchildren. She graduated from Akron High School as salutatorian of her senior class. She enjoyed participating in the school plays. Originally from Hale County, she and her husband lived in Birmingham 26 years before retiring and moving to the Stewart community. She was a loving and devoted wife, mother, and Gran. She was a member of Moundville Baptist Church. She was an active member in the Creative Homemakers Club of Hale County. She loved to cook and serve her family and friends. Besides her gifts of hospitality and service, she was an excellent seamstress, a whiz at crossword puzzles, and a great domino player. Pallbearers will be Ronnie Clary, Penson Ballard, Billy Massengale, David Massengale, Curtis G'Villo, and Marty Wissinger. Honorary pallbearers are Dr. Larry Skelton and staff, Moundville Health and Rehabilitation and staff, caregivers Sylvia and Aimee Hoggle, and friends and neighbors of the Stewart community and Moundville. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Moundville Baptist Church Building Fund, P.O. Box 306, Moundville, AL 35474. She is now with her Savior Jesus Christ and is no longer suffering. She trusted in Jesus Christ alone to forgive her sins and Jesus changed her life. Her life was a testimony of God's grace.
