TUSCALOOSA - Luther Aubrey Strickland, age 92, went to his eternal home on Sunday, November 11, 2018, at DCH Regional Medical Center. Services will be 11 a.m. Wednesday, November 14, 2018, at Skyland Baptist Church with Reverend Jimmy Garner officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church. Magnolia Chapel Funeral Home South is handling arrangements.
Mr. Strickland was born on October 22, 1926 in Bluffton, Georgia and lived a full fruitful life. He is survived by his two children, Phyllis Greene (Jeff) and Richard Strickland of Tuscaloosa; a grandson, Joel Hatfield (Brandi); two great-grandchildren, Harrison and Eva Caroline; one niece, Brenda Brown (Joe); one nephew, Byron Bell (Kaye); and a host of friends.
He is preceded in death by his wife of 70 years, Glennie; his parents, Luther and Annabelle Strickland; and stepmother, Genie Strickland.
Aubrey was a charter member of Skyland Baptist Church serving faithfully for over 50 years. He was a veteran of World War II serving in the United States Army. After serving, Aubrey worked for the State of Alabama, ABC Board, for over 25 years.
In retirement, he enjoyed fishing, Alabama football, and spending time with family.
Pallbearers will be Joel Hatfield, Jeff Greene, Jerry Matthews, Joe Brown, Randy Tunnell and Jim Singley.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Skyland Baptist Church Building Fund or to your favorite charity.
