Louise Scott

Louise V. Scott TUSCALOOSA Louise V. Scott, age 93, died April 21, 2013, at Merrill Gardens. There will be a family memorial service. Born near Athens, Alabama in 1919, she graduated from The University of Tennessee's RN program. Having served in Germany and Guam, Louise retired from the U.S. Army as Lieutenant Colonel. Louise also retired from the VA Hospital in Nashville where she served as the first head nurse of its cardiac care unit. Louise moved to Tuscaloosa in 1995 to live near a nephew and his family; she was a member of First Christian Church. Louise was preceded in death by her parents, William H. and Annie Scott; sister, Christine Hestevold; brother, James W. Scott, and lifelong friend, Mattye B. Simpson. Survivors include her nephews, Scott Hestevold (Nita) of Tuscaloosa, James Scott (Aileen) of Charleston, S.C., and Norman Scott (Jeri) of Jackson, Wyo.; niece, Sarah Scott of Columbia, S.C.; great-nephews, Erik Hestevold of Tuscaloosa, Brandon Scott, and James Scott; and great-niece, Kara Hestevold of Tuscaloosa. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Doctors Without Borders, DCH Hospital Foundation, Red Cross, or one's favorite charity.
