Lola Riley Burke, 94, of Tuscaloosa passed away on November 29, 2018 at Forest Manor
Rehabilitation Pavilion in Northport, AL.
A celebration of her life will be held Sunday, December 2, 2018 at 2:30 pm at Magnolia Funeral Home
North (4905 Highway 69 N, Northport, AL) with Rev. Ken Smith officiating. Burial will follow at a later
date at Sunset Cemetery with arrangements by Magnolia North Funeral Home.
Lola was born February 26, 1924 in Black Rock, AR to Edward Jones Riley and Ellen Virginia Duncan
Riley. She lived in Van Nuys, Hollywood, and Thousand Oaks, California; Pensacola, Florida;
Gaithersburg, Maryland; and Guin, Florence, Killen, and Tuscaloosa, Alabama. Lola was a brilliant
conversationalist, an avid reader of newspapers, and a loving mother, sister, grandmother, and great
grandmother.
Lola is preceded in death by her parents, her husband of 61 years, William Carl Burke, Sr., her
daughter, Cindy Hollyhand, three brothers and three sisters.
Lola is survived by her son, William Carl "Chip" Burke (Marcia), her sister Peggy June Ogilvie, her
son-in-law Doug Hollyhand, her grandchildren, Brian Hollyhand (Leigh), Riley Hollyhand (Crystal),
Amanda Livingston (Wesley), and Hillary Burke Cameron; her great grandchildren, Brilyn and Ainslee
Hollyhand, Anna Riley, Ava Kate and Lola Jane Hollyhand, Duncan and Barrett Livingston, and Avery
Burke Cameron; sister-in-law Lauranne Riley; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends and
neighbors of Riverchase neighborhood and Crimson Village Senior Living Community.
The family wishes to extend our sincere thanks to the Comfort Care Hospice nursing staff, the nurses
and staff of Forest Manor Rehab Pavilion, and the staff of Crimson Village Senior Living.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to Big Oak Ranch, First United Methodist Church, the
American Cancer Society, or a charity of choice.
