LOIS CATHERINE STOKES
GREENSBORO - Lois Catherine Stokes, age 77, of Greensboro, Alabama, passed away peacefully on March 5, 2018, at Colonial Haven Care & Rehabilitation in Greensboro, Alabama. Services will be 11 a.m. Wednesday, March 7, 2018, at Rhodes Chapel Baptist Church with Rev. Albert Lyles and Rev. Paul D. McGuire III officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery with Magnolia Chapel Funeral Home South directing. Visitation will be one hour prior to services at the church.
Mrs. Stokes is lovingly remembered by her two daughters, Lisa Cochran (Mike) and Rhonda Harper (Phil), both of Greensboro; a sister, Betty Hoggle (Paul) of Greensboro; five grandchildren, Christina Clary (Heath), John Michael Cochran of Greensboro, Julie Tucker (Dustin) of Fosters, and Kay and Hunter Harper of Greensboro; and two great-grandchildren, Randall Clary and Braylen Lucas of Greensboro.
Mrs. Stokes was preceded in death by her husband of 48 years, John Benson Stokes; a son, John Benson Stokes, Jr.; and her parents, O.V and Dorothy Prisoc.
Mrs. Stokes was born in Hale County Alabama and graduated from Greensboro High School. She was a member of Rhodes Chapel Church where she taught Sunday school and worked with the children during Vacation Bible School. Mrs. Stokes enjoyed gardening and cooking; but her passion was spending time with her family. She was a devoted and supportive wife, a loving and caring mother, sister and grandmother. She will be dearly missed by all who knew her.
Pallbearers will be John Michael Cochran, Alan Hoggle, Hunter Harper, Evan Kynard, J W Kynard, Andy Williams, Charles Williams and Marshall Williams.
Honorary pallbearers are the staff and nurses of Colonial Haven Care Rehabilitation and Comfort Hospice.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made to the Rhodes Chapel Cemetery Fund, c/o Margaret Kynard, 25776 AL Hwy 69, Greensboro, Alabama 36744 or to Comfort Care Hospice of Demopolis, Alabama.
