Lawrence David Skelton, Sr., age 79, of Northport, Alabama, passed away on January 16, 2023 at Hospice of West Alabama. Celebration of Life services will be held 2:00 p.m. Saturday, January 21, 2023 at Buhl Baptist Church with Bro. Pat Powell officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to services at the church.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert L. Skelton and Madie Skelton; brothers, W. B. Skelton, James Roy Skelton, Tom Skelton, and Donald Skelton; and sisters, Lois Hitt and Shirley Falls.
Survivors include his wife Peggy Skelton; daughters, Lisa S. Quinn (Brett) and Michelle S. Hansford (Glen); son, David Skelton, Jr. (Miranda); sister, Myrtle Rice; brothers, Billy Wayne Skelton and Larry Skelton; grandchildren, Kelly Quinn (Bobbie), Justin Quinn (Michelle), Tayler Hansford (Tori), Bo Hansford (Brittany), Austin Skelton, Carter Skelton and only granddaughter, Madie Hansford; 13 great-grandchildren with the 14th on the way in April, and a “granddaughter”, Corin Jenkins.
Papaw was loved by all that knew him. David worked at Warrior Tractor until he retired. Daddy made certain all his children and grandchildren knew how to take care of their vehicles. David was married to the love of his life for 61 years. He loved to go fishing with his boys and tell fishing stories. He enjoyed trips to the beach and mountains with his family.
Honorary pallbearers are Hospice of West Alabama, doctors and nurses of Northport DCH ICU, and fellow employees of Warrior Tractor.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Hospice of West Alabama.
