Lawrence Edward "Larry" Parnell, age 71, of Tuscaloosa, Ala., died July 2, 2017, at Hospice of West Alabama. Visitation will be Friday, July 21, 2017, at Forest Lake United Methodist Church, 1711 4th Ave. Tuscaloosa, AL, from 4 to 6 p.m., with Magnolia Chapel Funeral Home South directing. He was preceded in death by his parents, Lawrence Eugene and Arkatie Parnell. Survivors include his wife, Kathy Parnell of Tuscaloosa, Ala.; daughter, Michelle Parnell Smith of Marietta, Ga.; son, Brad Parnell of Alabaster, Ala.; sisters, Katie Parnell Roberts of West Point, Ga. and Carol Parnell of Cantonment, Fla.; and grandchildren, Emily Smith, Molly Smith, Mary Kate Parnell and Tanner Parnell. Born in Anniston,, Ala. in 1946, Larry was the youngest of three children born to L. E. and Arkatie Parnell. A graduate of the University of Alabama, Larry was a die hard Crimson Tide fan. He retired from B.F. Goodrich in 2001 after a 35 year career as a chemical engineer.
