Kenneth Browning McMillan, age 76, of Tuscaloosa, Alabama passed away at home on July 12,2023, after a long struggle with Parkinson's disease. He was born on November 3, 1946, near Greensboro, Alabama. A visitation will be held from 6:00-8:00 p.m. Monday, July 17, 2023, at Magnolia Chapel South. A second visitation will be held 9:30-10:30 a.m. Tuesday, July 18, 2023, at Magnolia Chapel South with funeral services following at 10:30 a.m., officiated by Bro. Gary Youngblood. Graveside services with Military Honors will follow at Alabama National Cemetery in Montevallo with Magnolia Chapel South directing.
Kenneth was preceded in death by his parents Albert and Lucille McMillan, by sisters Evelyn McMillan, Sarah Vise, and Elizabeth Yon, and by brothers Albert McMillan Jr. and Donald McMillan.
He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Brenda, by his daughters Jennifer Nash (Lynn) and Kimberly, and by his granddaughters Lauren Barton (Jordy) and Ashlyn Nash. He is also survived by brothers William McMillan (Carmen) and Norman McMillan (Joan) and by sisters Marcille Cockrell (Bobby) and Julia Walker. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews and a host of friends.
Kenneth grew up in Ralph, Alabama, attending Ralph Elementary School and Tuscaloosa County High School. After high school, he served in the U.S. Air Force. For a number of years, he worked at the B.F. Goodrich plant in Tuscaloosa, Alabama. After which, he became a realtor, and later, one of the founding owners of Warrior Real Estate.
Kenneth loved his family and was loved by them. He was known for his quick wit, his wonderful sense of humor, and his prodigious memory. He committed so many songs to memory that he could sing for hours without repeating a song. He and Brenda loved to travel, both in this country and abroad. They had a vacation home in Panama City, Florida, where they generously entertained family and friends. In the last year of his life, Kenneth published a comic novel, The Left Bank of Nowhere.
Pallbearers will be Lynn Nash, Jordy Barton, Norman McMillan, Fred Yon, Bob Cockrell, Lawrence Fair, Cleveland Winn, Avery Vise, Phillip McMillan, and John McMillan.
Honorary pallbearers are nieces and nephews, Dr. Peramsetty and family, Dr. Puttu, Dr. Pandey, Dr. Nicholas, Dr. Royal, Laura Lieb, Gary and Pat Youngblood and family, Linda Jacobs, Jimmy and Paula Watts, Herman and Beverly Pinion, Mike and Sharon Styron, Tom and Donna Rach and family, Ashanti Ryals and family, Demetrius Smith and family, Trish and Michelle Woolley, Eric Estes, Ollie Evans, Eric Murray, Kenny Brown, Terri Fikes and Hospice of West Alabama.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial gifts be made to the Michael J. Fox Parkinson's Foundation, P.O. Box 5014, Hagerstown, MD 21741.
