Kathy Peeples Windham HAVANA - Kathy Peeples Windham, age 70, of Havana, passed away November 8, 2016, at home. Services will be 11 a.m. today, November 11, 2016, at Magnolia Chapel Funeral Home South with Reverend Paul Peeples and Dr. Nathan Elliott officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to services at the funeral home with Magnolia Chapel Funeral Home South directing. She was preceded in death by her husband, John Windham; parents, E. L. "Buddy" and Lois Peeples; brother, Leon Peeples; three nieces; and four nephews. Survivors include her sons, John (Kelly) and Dr. Kevin; grandson, Clifton; brother, Rev. Paul Peeples (Shirley); sister, Carolyn Davis (Rev. Roland); and numerous family members including a "son", Wayne Peeples (Jennifer). Kathy attended Havana School and Hale County High School. She graduated in 1965 which is the same year that she married. She was devoted to her community and church families and served and worked with loyalty and integrity. "Mrs. Kathy" was a classroom mom, PTA president, leader in Havana's Improvement Club, Bible School Superintendent and poll-worker. Kathy was a model wife and mother with a caring heart. She and Johnny opened their home to others; she was a mother to many. Her most meritorious accomplishment was in accepting Jesus Christ as her savior. Her faith never waivered and one look at her tattered Bible tells her story. As the Proverb notes: "Let her own works praise her." Pallbearers will be Gary Stone, Anthony Davis, Alfred Harless, Eugene McClain, Howard Peeples, David Rucker and Kenny Windham. The family would like to give a special thanks to Havana United Methodist Church and caregiver, Rebecca Mickens. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that donations be made to the Windham Memorial Scholarship Fund at the Bank of Moundville.
