Kathleen Fields Watkins MOUNDVILLE | Kathleen Fields Watkins, age 73, of Moundville, died February 12, 2015, at Hospice of West Alabama. Services will be 2 p.m. Monday, February 16, 2015, at Indian Mounds Baptist Church, 40616 Alabama Highway 69 South, Moundville, Ala., with Rev. Charles Spence and Rev. Ed King officiating. Burial will follow in Oak Hill Cemetery in Moundville with Magnolia Chapel Funeral Home South directing. Visitation will be tonight, February 15, 2015, from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home. Kathleen was preceded in death by her parents, Floyd and Edna Fields, and her daughter, Cindy Watkins. Survivors include her husband, Henry Watkins; son, Brian Watkins, both of Moundville, Ala.; granddaughter, Heather Watkins of Tuscaloosa, Ala.; and grandson, Joseph Watkins of Moundville. She was born December 21, 1941, in Moundville, Ala. to Floyd and Edna Fields. She married Henry Watkins on March 21, 1961. Kathleen was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and friend to many. She was beloved by her fellow church members of Indian Mounds Baptist Church. She held many positions within the church. She was one of the founding members, a trustee, hostess, greeter, preschool Sunday school teacher, and served on many different committees. If you visited Indian Mounds Baptist Church in the past 25 years, you have been happily greeted by Kathleen. She was full of smiles and concern for each person that entered the church doors each service. She loved to share her love for the Lord through her wisdom and guidance. It may not have been the advice you wanted to hear, but it takes someone of her caliber to tell you the truth. Her love for the Lord was shown daily, even through her illness. Pallbearers will be Dan Davis, Mark Dockery, Earnest Gann, Kevin Nelson, Dannie Spence, and Ken Cunningham. Honorary pallbearers are Kenny Nelson and Brock Loper.
