Juanita Williams was born on August 28, 1927 in the Mt. Herman Community near Greensboro to Mattie C. and Benjamin P. Williams. She was the youngest daughter in a family of 2 sisters and 6 brothers. Juanita graduated from Greensboro High School and attended business school in Montgomery where she trained to be a bookkeeper. After working for a time in the Hale County Tax Assessor's Office, she became the bookkeeper for Greensboro Tire Service where she remained until her retirement. On April 9, 1948 she married Horace G. Bonds and had 2 sons, Tim and Jim. Juanita and Horace were married for 45 years. After Horace's death in 1993, Juanita married Bernard C. Martin and moved to Stewart, AL where she lived until shortly after his death in 2010. The onset of Alzheimer's disease let to Juanita living for a while with her son Jim and his family and then later at Moundville Health and Rehab Glen Haven Health and Rehab in Northport as the disease progressed. She passed away shortly after a visit from her sons on February 13. She will be laid to rest in Oakwood Cemetery in Greensboro at 10 AM on Saturday, February 20.
