Joyce Suttles

Joyce Scott Suttles TUSCALOOSA - Joyce Scott Suttles, affectionately known as "Mojo", age 65, went to be in the presence of her Lord and Savior on January 7, 2016, at Hospice of West Alabama. Services will be 2:00 p.m. Saturday, January 9, 2016, at First Baptist Church Tuscaloosa with Rev. Gil McKee presiding. Visitation will be two hours prior to the service with a private family burial following and Magnolia Chapel Funeral Home South directing. Joyce was born August 12, 1950, to the late C.O. Scott and Helen Scott. She was preceded in death by her brother, Ronald Scott. She is now reunited with her son, Kerry Suttles, who always made her smile. Survivors include her loving husband of 46 years, Larry Suttles; son, Scott Suttles (Stephanie); mother, Helen Scott; brothers, Donald Scott, Dan Scott (Vicki) and David Scott (Sherry); two precious grandchildren, Jordan Suttles and Brooksie Suttles, and a host of other family members and friends whom she loved and loved her very much. Joyce was an honor graduate of the University of Alabama with a degree in Early Childhood Education. She took great joy in serving other people as an expression of her love for Jesus Christ. She was an active volunteer at Save-a-Life, the Christian Ministry Center, the Community Soup Bowl and First Baptist Church of Tuscaloosa, where she was a Sunday school teacher for many years. Her greatest passion was participating in the lives of her grandchildren and leading by example a life well-lived. She loved supporting her son, Scott, in his coaching career and she was the epitome of a Proverbs 31 woman; beautiful on the inside and out. Our "Mojo" will be sorely missed. Pallbearers include William Guerard, Pete King, Al Askew, Woody Kibby, Gwen Kerr, Phil Gruwell, Jordan Suttles and Scott Suttles. Honorary pallbearers are the Guerard Sunday School class and friends of Phifer, Incorporated. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Samaritan's Purse or Hospice of West Alabama. "Honor her for all that her hands have done, and let her works bring her praise at the city gate." Proverbs 31:31
