Joyce Maddox Pollett, 79, of Northport, Ala., passed away December 31, 2019, at DCH Northport. Services will be held on Tuesday, January 7, 2020, at 2:00 pm at Mountain Top Baptist Church with Dr. Ken Cheek officiating and Magnolia Chapel North directing. Burial will follow in Piney Woods Cemetery. Visitation will be from 12-2 pm Tuesday, January 7, 2020, at the church.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Lewis and Mable Maddox; brothers, Rayburn and Robert Maddox; sisters, Sarah Ann Brown and Emogene Hewitt; son, Buggs Pollett, and granddaughter Ashley Pollette Swanson.
Survivors include her daughter Debbie Baker (Gary); son, Tony Pollette; daughter-in-law, Lois Unruh Pollett; grandchildren, Kelli Kirk Bradley, Ryan Smith (Daniel), Darrel Pollett (Teather), and 9 great-grandchildren.
Joyce managed Mr. Bill’s restaurant for over 13 years. After retirement, she spent her time outside, often cutting the grass when it wasn’t necessary. She loved being outdoors, cooking, and baking. Her cooking will be thoroughly missed.
Pallbearers are Gene and Kaisen Lawrence, Larry and Wesley Hamm, Robert Finnen, and Terry McMillian.
Honorary pallbearers are Gorgas class of ’58-’59, customers, employees, and friends of Mr. Bill’s, West Alabama Family Practice, and the friends of Piney Woods community.
