Kevin Grimes COKER - Kevin Grimes, age 30, of Coker, Ala, died February 15, 2017, at home. Services will be 2:30 p.m. Saturday, February 18, 2017, at Phillips Chapel Freewill Baptist Church with Bro. Jerry Montgomery and Bro. Tony Latham officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery with Magnolia Chapel Funeral Home North directing. Visitation will be today, February 17, 2017, from 6 to 8 p.m., at the funeral home. The body will lie in state thirty minutes prior to service. He was preceded in death by his father, John E. Grimes, Jr.; grandparents, Rev. Clyde and Ruvin Oswalt and John and Clara Grimes; and several aunts and uncles. Survivors include his son, John Kevin Grimes, Jr. of Northport, Ala.; mother, Becky Oswalt Grimes of Northport, Ala.; and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins. Kevin was a great father, son and friend to all who knew him. He fought a long, hard battle with Type 1 Diabetes and other health complications. He was deeply loved and will greatly be missed by all who knew him. Pallbearers will be Daniel Malone, Brandon Malone, Landon Swindle, Donnie Oswalt, Mitchell Hickman, Chris Montgomery, Blake Jones and Brian Latham. Honorary pallbearers are Dr. Sakina Kamal, Dr. Keith Debell, Dr. Dirk Berry, Dr. Garfield Ramdeen, Dr. John Waits, Dr. Brian King, Dr. Craig Buettner, Amedisys Home Health and Hospice and a host of family and friends.
