His Memorial Service will be 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, March 18, 2025, at Magnolia Chapel North with Magnolia Chapel North directing.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Otto and Pauline Alsobrook of Princeton, Ky., and Estel and Clover Charlton of Benton, Ky.

Survivors include his wife, Melinda Rogers Alsobrook of Fayette, Ala.; daughter, Virginia Anne Alsobrook of Fayette, Ala.; parents, Jay and Shirley Alsobrook of Benton, Ky.; in-laws, Jimmy and Linda Rogers of Berry, Ala.; sister, Jenny Martin (Robert) of Waverly, Tenn.; brother-in-law, Mike Rogers of Berry, Ala.; niece, Alyssa Martin of Nashville, Tenn.; and nephews, Nathan Martin of Nashville, Tenn., and Joey Rogers of Tuscaloosa, Ala.

John Alsobrook met the love of his life, Melinda Rogers, in October 1997 and they were married on October 3, 1998. Their first child was miscarried in November 2007 and God blessed them with a healthy baby girl (Virginia Anne) in November 2008. He loved his God, family, church, and friends and he maintained a strong connection to his childhood friends from Benton, Kentucky.

He attended Marshall County High School and Marshall County Vocation School in Kentucky, Mississippi State University (Forestry program), and Bevill State Community College (Fayette, Alabama - Paramedic and Registered Nurse).

He worked at Forgotten Past from May 1985 - May 1987, then worked for various forestry and timber companies in Mississippi and Kentucky before settling in Alabama in 1993. He worked at Brown Wood Preserving in Brownville, Alabama from September 1993 to July 2003 then returned to school to become an RN. He worked at DCH Health System as an oncology nurse from June 2005 to October 2021 then moved to Northwest Regional Medical Center until he was unable to continue working due to his health.

John's passion in life was learning, teaching, and being prepared. He was always willing to teach whenever asked and taught many lessons on Biblical topics, historical topics, preparedness, medical, and firearms and each lesson was closed with these words: "Any comments, criticisms, or witticisms?" Regardless of the topic or location of the lesson, he would always include a devotional and the Gospel. He would tell others that he was the bearer of all knowledge, both earthly and celestial.

He touched many lives during his time on Earth and he will be missed by many.

Special thanks to the caring nurses, doctors, and surgical teams at DCH Fayette, Tuscaloosa, and Northport, Lewis and Faye Manderson Cancer clinic, and UAB. Special thanks to the many churches, prayer warriors, pastors, and families who kept our family in your prayers for these past two years. Your calls, texts, cards, and gifts were appreciated.

Thank you to our Lord and Savior for his strength, grace, and continued presence during this time.

In the U.S. Army, one of the general orders for sentries is to "guard everything within the limits of my post and quit my post only when properly relieved."

2Ti 4:7 I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith: 2Ti 4:8 Henceforth there is laid up for me a crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous judge, shall give me at that day: and not to me only, but unto all them also that love his appearing.

John Thomas Alsobrook was relieved of his post on .... by his Lord and Savior.

Special thanks to all his caregivers and Hospice.
