Joan Ann Besselman, age 77, of Northport, died Sept. 8, 2011, at Forest Manor Nursing Home. Memorial services will be 2 p.m. Sunday at Magnolia Chapel Funeral Home North with Rev. Dick Wright officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to services Sunday at the funeral home. Graveside services will be 10 a.m. Tuesday at Lakelawn Metairie Cemetery in New Orleans, LA with Rev. Woody Jones Officiating. Magnolia Chapel Funeral Home North is in charge of arrangements. She was preceded in death by her parents, William H. and Emily Besselman, and her infant grandson, Jordan Michael Slough. Survivors include her daughters, Betsy Hass (Paul) of Tuscaloosa, Ala. and Karen Ward (Derrick) of Chesapeake, Va.; her sons, Bill Slough (Carol) of Champaign, Ill., Steve Slough (Tracy) of Duncanville, Ala., and Rob Slough (Angie) of Clarksville, Tenn.; 18 grandchildren: Brian Hass, Melissa Slough, Molly Slough, Sarah Slough, Maggie Slough, Katie Shore, Zachary Slough, Alexandra Slough, Kennon Hodges, Liz Hodges, Rees Ward, Christian Ward, Elijah Ward, Roth Ward, Amelia Ward, Samuel Ward, Owain Ward, and Autumn Rose Ward; and her great-granddaughter, Kaya Dickersgill. The family would like to extend their many thanks to friends at Presbyterian Apartments, Forest Manor Nursing Home staff, Amedysis Home Health Care and Hospice staff, members of the "Whosoever Class"� at St. Mark United Methodist Church and all of Mrs. Besselman"�s friends; Sandra geer, Dick and Linda Wright, Carol Robertson, Kathy Horne and Dyan McKleroy. They family would also like to extend a special thanks to Dr. Ross Vaughn, whose care and compassion surpassed all of their hopes and expectations. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to St. Mark United Methodist Church in Northport, Ala.
