Jimmie Hayes

Jimmie Gene Spiller Hayes, age 81 of Tuscaloosa, passed away December 26, 2022 at St. Vincent East in Birmingham.

She is preceded in death by her parents, James Earnest Spiller, Jr. and Dorothy Imogene "Jackie" Bailey Spiller.

Jimmie Gene is survived by her husband of 61 years, Joe Pete Hayes, daughter; Terri Watkins (Graves), son; Stan Hayes (Karen), grandchildren; Riley Jo Watkins, Trace Watkins, Jamie Hayes, Mandy Sabbagh (Garth), great grandchild; Gage Sabbagh, siblings; Mike Spiller (Connie), Nedra Spiller Franks, Joan Spiller Ashcraft (Duane), and a host of nieces and nephews.

Jimmie Gene was born on August 24,1941. She graduated from Tuscaloosa County High School and then went on to the University of Alabama. Jimmie retired from Spiller Furniture where she spent her career. Big sister was the most loving and loyal wife, mother, grandmother, aunt and friend. Her contagious giggle and grin was adored by all. Jimmie Gene spent her time traveling in her motor home, gathering with her friends for a round of bunco, and playing mexican train with her church group. She and Joe were devout members at Taylorville United Methodist Church.

Pallbearers will be her son-in-law; Graves Watkins, grandsons; Trace Watkins, Jamie Hayes, great grandson; Gage Sabbagh, and nephews; Shane Spiller, Tanner Ashcraft and Hayden Franks.

Honorary Pallbearers are Taylorville United Methodist Church,  and Dr. Stephen Browne of Northport Internal Medicine.

Services will be held on Thursday, December 29, 2022 at 2:00 pm at Magnolia Chapel South with Bro. Duane Ashcraft officiating and Magnolia Chapel South directing. Entombment will follow in the Mausoleum at Memory Hill Gardens. Visitation will be held from 12:00 noon until 2:00 pm at the funeral home prior to the service.

In lieu of flowers, the family request donations be made to Taylorville United Methodist Church.
