Jerry Nixon Smith, age 78, of Pensacola, Fla., went to be with our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on July 18, 2024. Jerry was born in Tuscaloosa, Alabama to Frank Nixon Smith and Sibyl McGee Smith on September 24, 1945. Jerry graduated from Tuscaloosa High School in 1963 and attended The University of Alabama where he majored in Industrial Engineering and graduated in 1968. Upon graduation, Jerry moved to Pensacola, Florida where he worked for Monsanto until he retired.
Jerry is survived by his three nieces, Leigh Ann Morrison (Stan), Leslie Musumecci (Frank), and Ashley Tilley (Daniel); along with his three great-nieces; and six great-nephews. His great-nieces and nephews always thought Uncle Jerry was the coolest with his fast cars, RV, hot tub, massive fish tank, Easter egg hunts, and more. They always looked forward to Uncle Jerry visiting. Jerry was preceded in death by his loving parents, and sister, Barbara Ann Clifton, who went to be with the Lord just 16 days prior.
Jerry was an avid Alabama fan who loved watching Alabama Football and had every bumper sticker to prove it. Jerry spent his spare time playing golf and enjoyed day trading in the stock market. He will be missed and we are grateful for the time we were able to spend with him.
A private family graveside will be held Friday, July 26 at Tuscaloosa Memorial Park with Magnolia Chapel North directing.
