Jerry Morris Fikes, age 83 of Tuscaloosa, passed away peacefully on Sunday, May 12, 2024 at home. Services will be held on Saturday, May 18, 2024 at 2:00 pm at Liberty Baptist Church in Duncanville with Kim Fanning officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery with Magnolia Chapel South directing. Visitation will be held at the church one hour prior to the service.
He is preceded in death by his parents; Monroe Curtis and Lillain Elaine Fikes, sister; Gladys Faye Fikes, brothers; Gary, Tom, Willie, and James (J.R.) Fikes, granddaughter; Katie Willis, son-in-law; Ken Willis.
Survivors include his wife Linda Hales Fikes, daughters; Deloris Willis, Lea Marble (Arther), sons; Morris Fikes (Stacy), Ben Fikes (Gail), Kevin Clark (Karie), sisters; Gaynell Pope (Macon), Martha Hollingsworth, grandchildren; Amber Faulkner (DJ), Kyle Fikes (Candace), Andrew Willis, Laura Clark, Leah Clark, Christian Clark, Olivia Marble, Ayden Marble, Lillian Marble, great grandchildren; Brylan Faulkner, Madisyn Faulkner, Cooper Fikes, Sadie Fikes, Korlee Fikes, and sister-in-laws; Ramona Fikes and Betty Fikes.
Jerry was born in Billingsley, Alabama on June 23,1940. He went forward and received the Lord as his Savior many years ago while his late son-in-law was singing. Jerry was a loving husband, father, and grandfather. He cherished his siblings and held special memories of going to family reunions in Billingsley.
He served 20 years as a staff sergeant in the Army National Guard. He worked at Central Foundry, River Gas, and retired from Drummond Coal as a welder. Jerry enjoyed cooking, being a handyman and working on cars. After retirement he also enjoyed going to the Waffle House everyday A.K.A "his office", where he was known as "Mr. Wonderful." He also enjoyed traveling to various casinos.
Jerry has a quiet demeanor but he loved to aggravate. He found his joy singing and over the last few years became more entertaining. He will be greatly missed.
Pallbearers will be D.J. Faulkner, Kyle Fikes, Andrew Willis, Christian Clark, Ayden Marble, Brylan Faulkner, Gary Fikes, Phillip Fikes and David Fanning. Honorary pallbearers will be William Fikes, Bob Colburn, Royce Colburn, Curtis Hollingsworth, Macon Pope, Dr. William Debell, Dr. Anand Pandey and Dr. Mohammad Azam.
