Jennifer was a teacher for 32 years until she retired from Sipsey Valley Middle School in 2014. Most of her teaching years were spent teaching 6th and 8th grade English. Jennifer was very involved in the schools she taught by coaching the middle school cheer squad, serving on the PTSA, helping with fishing tournaments for Lloyd Wood, attending choir trips, football games, etc. Jennifer loved all the children she taught and genuinely cared for them as her own. She attended First United Methodist Church and played in the hand bell choir from time to time. Jennifer will be greatly missed by her only child, 19 year old daughter, Cheryl Calhoun. Cheryl states ""that no other mom out there could love their children the way my mom loved me. Her love will forever change my life and I am praising God that my mom is made new in heaven and that I will see her again." In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that donations be made to the American Cancer Society .
