James Lewis Watson TUSCALOOSA | James Lewis Watson, age 82, of Tuscaloosa, died Friday, Jan. 30, 2015 at Hospice of West Alabama. Services will be 12 noon on Monday, Feb. 2, 2015 at Northwood Hills Baptist Church with Rusty Selman and Walter Hinton officiating. Burial will follow in Bethel Presbyterian Church Cemetery with Magnolia Chapel Funeral Home North directing. The body will lie in state, and visitation will be one hour prior to the services at the church. He was preceded in death by his parents, Amos Henry Watson and Vista Turner Watson. Survivors include his wife, Dolores Watson (of Tuscaloosa); daughter, Brenda Porter Burgess (Mike) of Birmingham; stepdaughters, Susan Earnest Elmore of Tuscaloosa, and Leah Brown of Jacksonville, Fla.; sisters, Winifred Doss (James) of Tuscaloosa, Barbara Faye Moore of Tuscaloosa, and Reba Griffin (Jack Galvez) of Berry; grandchild, James Christopher Porter of Fayette; step-grandchildren, Margaret Clarke, Kristy Lawson, Jason Elmore, Patricia Elmore, Victoria Elmore, and John Lewis; great-grandchildren, and nieces and nephews. He graduated from Gorgas High School. He was a navy veteran, serving on the U.S.S Prairie AD-15 during the Korean War. He was employed at Gulf States Paper Corporation, and he later worked in the construction industry. Pallbearers will be Shane Naugher, Bobby Dyer, Eddie Clements, David Humphrey, Mark Frazee, Sidney Harold Clements, Randy Clements, and John Walker. Honorary pallbearers are Dr. Brian Wilhite, nurses of MICU, ACCU, 5 South, 6 South, and Hospice of West Alabama.
