James Chirstopher Smith NORTHPORT | James Christopher Smith, age 49, of Northport, died August 22, 2014, at home. Services will be 3 p.m. Sunday, August 24, 2014, at Magnolia Chapel Funeral Home North with Rev. Jim Stockdale officiating and Magnolia Chapel Funeral Home North directing. Visitation will be Sunday from 1:30 to 3 p.m. at the funeral home. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Roy and Bernice Smith and Mr. and Mrs. James and Evelyn Marlowe. He is survived by his wife Donna Smith of Northport; brothers, Jeffrey Smith (Stephani) and Jeremy Townsend (Dana); nephews and niece, Zachary Smith, Tyler Smith, Cameron Townsend and Kallie Townsend; and his parents, Barbara Miers (Neal) and Charles Smith (Deidre). Chris, a lifelong resident of Northport, graduated from Tuscaloosa Country High School in 1982 and The University of Alabama in 1989. He was an animal lover, sports enthusiast (Roll Tide!) who loved his friends and family. He touched so many live during his too short life and faced everything with determination and a smile. Pallbearers will be Rodney Smith, Riley Lumpkin, Bill Campbell, Chase Smith, Marshall Smith, Zachary Smith and Tyler Smith. Honorary Pallbearers will be Jo Locke, Susan Largin, Jerry Harbin, Jaena Eidson, Northport Hospital ICU and Respiratory Staff, and Amedysis staff. In lieu of flowers the family requests that donation be made to the Tuscaloosa Humane Society, T-Town Paws, Bankston Cemetery fund, or Lyme Research Alliance
